Easter morning at our house is definitely something to behold. It is as exciting as Christmas morning. Once the kids wake up, so much for trying to get any more sleep. It’s at that very moment when the frantic search for what the Easter Bunny left begins. It’s candy-filled plastic eggs here, and chocolate bunnies and marshmallow chicks over there. Yep, it’s every child for himself or herself. What anticipation! What excitement! What wonderful joy!
Shouldn’t we as adults wake up on Easter morning with the same excitement and joy in our hearts? No, we may not run around in search of beautifully decorated baskets filled with sweet treats, but we should always remember the true reason for celebrating this holiday—Jesus’ conquering and overcoming of death itself. And if that was not amazing enough, Jesus preformed this most loving act so He might share its results with all of creation, including you and me. This is not only a time for us to remember that God gave us His most perfect gift on that first Easter morning so long ago, but it is also a time of reaffirming the acceptance of that gift in our hearts. May the celebration of Easter truly be a time of tremendous anticipation, excitement, and joy for all of us.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation You have given us. On this Easter Day may Your Holy Spirit gently remind us, in both mind and spirit, how great Your unconditional love is for all of creation, and may we live our lives in such a way that Your love is shown through us. Amen.
